What an odd string of recent events for storage facilities...

Mystery in Maine: Body found in freezer in storage unit

Quote:
LEWISTON, Maine — An 80-year-old man who died this month took a gruesome secret to his grave — a secret that was discovered only after his family went through his belongings in a storage unit, authorities say.

Inside an unplugged freezer, they found a set of human remains that investigators believe may be those of the man's girlfriend, who disappeared in 1983, when she was 29. Now investigators are trying to confirm the identity of the body, the cause of death and who may have been involved.

And then this...

Grandmother's remains lay in Clearwater storage unit

Quote:
CLEARWATER — From the outside, Unit B8 of U-Stor Self Storage didn't seem at all suspicious.

A family had stored stuff like old TVs and banana boxes in the 10-by-10-foot room for more than 25 years. Only recently had they fallen behind on rent.

It wasn't until U-Stor managers told the family that they would auction off the items inside the unit that B8's bizarre secret became clear.

You can't do that, a woman told the managers. Grandmother's in there.

And more recently...

[b]Body found in San Bernardino storage unit [/b

Quote:
The body of a man was found Monday inside a San Bernardino storage unit.
The man, who appeared to be in his 60s, was found about 2:30 p.m. by the property manager of Extra Space Storage at 155 W Club Center Dr., said San Bernardino police Lt. Eric McBride.

Police believe the unidentified man had been living in the storage unit and that he died of natural causes.

It appears the property manager knew the man had been living in the storage unit, McBride said.
